The “Résidence de l'Arsenal Royal” revives a historical monument of the XVII century, the food store, considered the largest and most beautiful of the stores of the navy of the kingdom.
Louis XIV, in 1669, charged the engineer Louis-François Le Vau with the construction of this majestic building. The site has been listed under “Historic Monument”s since 2007, it has been renovated by companions in respect of the materials and architecture of the time.
This gateway to the history of France enjoys a remarkable location, facing the historic port of Rochefort, the river Charente and close to the city centre.
